My Square Metre

Hello There…

wildlife montageWelcome to My Square Metre, we’re glad you stopped by! We’ve got a lot to tell you about so grab a cuppa, put your feet up and listen to how you’re going to save the worlds wildlife in your own back garden.
We  know what you’re thinking, impossible task right? Try looking at it this way…
We want you to;
  1. Take just 1 square metre of your garden
  2. Fill it with plants, habitats and lots of other wildlife goodies
  3. Watch your square metre become a haven for wildlife
Your square metre doesn’t have to be in the ground, if you don’t have a lot of space or like to move things around, why not use plant pots or window boxes? You could even join forces with friends, family or neighbours and create a joint square metre.
There’s all sorts of things you can do with just 1 square metre, build a mini pond, plant wild flower seeds, put up a bird box or create an insect hotel – the possibilities are endless!
And if you think that 1 square metre won’t make a difference, think again. If just 260 people take part in this campaign, we’ll have a wild life friendly area the size of a tennis court, now don’t tell us that won’t make a difference!
We will be providing you with activity sheets, how to guides and lots of ideas for filling your square metre until it’s bursting with green goodness, so if you’re struggling for ideas, come back and see us, we’ll help you out.
We would love for you to keep us updated on your square metre, head over to the Contact Us page for our email address and social media feeds. Send us pictures, stories, hints, tips, even if everything was a disaster – we love hearing about your wildlife warrior antics.
